Biodigesters offer South Africa significant advantages

The current electricity situation in South Africa is forcing the country to investigate and implement alternative energy sources. Biogas generated from anaerobic digestion is one such alternative which has not nearly reached its full potential in South Africa.

Biogas can be beneficial to diverse users across South Africa. These include large industrial organisations, the agricultural industry, wastewater treatment, solid waste disposal facilities, and smaller communities - especially those situated in rural areas.

Insight on securing residential estates

Hi-Tech Security Solutions in association with Rob Anderson hosted a conference on Residential Estate Security at the Indaba Hotel in Fourways, Johannesburg last week. Rob Anderson, Director, EES Africa (Pty) Ltd, assisted with the planning and delivered the opening address. Industry experts then presented informative talks related to various aspects on security in residential estates. They highlighted the key concepts behind the technologies, in particular the integration between technologies.

Alternative energy facilities and projects are multiplying in South Africa due to the country’s current electricity situation. Energy production from renewable alternatives continues to be encouraged and promoted, and funding made available. However, biogas generated from anaerobic digestion is one such alternative which has not nearly reached its full potential in South Africa. Hilde Herman, Intern, EES Africa, discusses the benefits of biodigesters in her white paper, ‘Biodigesters offer South Africa significant advantages’.

It is difficult to believe we are only weeks away from the end of year closedown. There is still so much work to be completed. It is full steam ahead and the next few weeks will be full of activity, challenging and rewarding.
